| pen. I'd much rather deal with a black market for gold than a baseless currency that can fluctuate at the whim of a market based on bad policy decisions. Just look what happened to the Pound at the turn of the century in 1900. England was the dominate superpower with a large empire spread worldwide. The Pound was the base currency used worldwide until bad policies including War and the removal from a gold standard collapsed the pound and the country. Sound familiar?
